Obama Claims He's On the Senate Banking Committee...He's Not By Rizzuto Wed Jul 23, 2008 - Check out the committee's website. He's not on any of the subcommittees either. McCain is the one who's accused of being too old, but doesn't it seem like Obama is the one who has all of the "senior moments"? Even worse, no one called him on it. With the massive amount of press following him, not one person caught this? Replace the word press with sycophants and you'll understand why. How are they going to spin this you ask? Prepare for "He worked closely with them" defense, despite the fact that that's not at all what he said. h/t Hotair Update: The bill which passed included a provision Obama offered in 2007. From his Senate website: U.S. Senator Barack Obama today applauded the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee's passage of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act of 2008, which includes provisions Obama offered last year in the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act of 2007 (S. 1430). The Obama provisions clarify that state and local governments can divest from companies that invest $20 million or more in Iran's energy sector and provide safe harbor for private fund managers who divest from such companies. The Committee approved the measure by a vote of 19 to 2.This still doesn't in any way make it "his committee". Just thought I'd add that caveat because it plays into the "he worked closely with them" scenario.
