Chief of Protocol failed to follow Tax Protocol By Rizzuto Mon Nov 16, 2009 - President Obama has had diplomatic Faux Pas after diplomatic Faux Pas over his first year in office. First were his gifts to British leaders; a stack of unwatchable DVD’s to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and an IPod filled with his speeches to the Queen of England (not to mention a pat on the back from First Lady Michelle). Next, his over the top bow to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Of course, this one was spun away as a misstep or picking something off the ground or…something. Finally, we come to this weekend, when he gave the emperor of Japan the full Karate Kid treatment. Fantastic job Obama-san! You might be surprised to learn that the president has an entire office dedicated to diplomatic protocol. The office, which is within the State Department, deals with everything from cultural sensitivity to gift giving. The office is headed by the chief of protocol whose name is Capricia Penavic Marshall. She’s obviously performed miserably this year, but there’s something that should have tipped off the administration that she wouldn’t be a great choice; she failed to follow tax protocol for two years, as didn't file her taxes in 2006 and 2007. She’d fit comfortably under the bus Mr. President, care to give her a nudge?
