Kirsten Powers Continues to Peddle McCain "100 Years" BS By Rizzuto Mon Mar 10, 2008 - Here's the background on this story. It's a real shame too because otherwise, her opinion piece in today's NY Post was rather illuminating. Here's the cheap shot in question: Another Clinton argument is that, if the delegations aren't seated, Florida and Michigan Democratic voters might not support a Democrat in November. To believe this, you must accept the absurd premise that a Democratic primary voter - among the most dedicated voters - is going to either stay home or vote Republican in a year that Democrats have an open shot at winning back the White House. Yes, you can just imagine all the die-hard Democrats rushing out to vote for a candidate who says he is willing to stay in Iraq for another 100 years because the DNC didn't seat the Florida or Michigan delegates. Now here's the McCain comment in it's full context from the Denver Post: "Maybe 100," McCain answered. "As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed, it's fine with me, and I hope it would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al-Qaeda is training, recruiting, equipping and motivating people every single day." There's obviosly a little bit of a difference there Kirsten. Hope the cheap shot was worth your integrity, as this issue had been clarified weeks ago and there is little chance that you "missed it".

One thing we have to realize about most people these days is that they have no sense of History much less current affairs. Their info is delivered in sound bytes and catchy lines. What she fails to realize is that we have be in Korea for half a century. Germany? hmmmmm Japan? I dont hear these people calling to leave those places as fast as possible. Here is what will happen. Things in Iraq will continue to improve. we will have troops there for some type of function for a long time. People will learn that this is a OK thing much like McCain sees it (like Korea). What I find more interesting is how they dont have a problem sending troops to anywhere else in the world, and would be fine sending troops to darfur (much like they sent us to somalia). Then they will cry fould once you get one casualty and tie our hands with restrictive ROEs to ensure we cant put the bad guys down either... some people are just a waste of oxygen. |
