Spitzer's Bailout Highlights Hillary's Failure
By Rizzuto

Wed Jan 16, 2008 - Although we’ve been distracted by this horse race of a primary, we shouldn’t forget that Hillary Clinton is first and foremost the Senator from New York (well, lets be realistic here, she was always “presidential candidate” Hillary Clinton first and foremost, but I digress). Amongst her campaign promises was the revitalization of the economy of upstate New York.

Since her election, upstate New York has lost 1 out of 5 manufacturing jobs according to a recent Federal Reserve Report.

Today Governor Eliot Spitzer announced a $1 billion bailout. From The Business Journal:

Gov. Eliot Spitzer revealed details Wednesday of how he intends to spend a proposed $1 billion upstate development fund at a State of Upstate address in Buffalo.

Spitzer said he wants to budget 35 percent of that fund for strengthening the state's infrastructure, fortifying water and sewer systems and paying for site development and construction costs. He said he also wants to reform the state's brownfields cleanup program and create the nation's best small business loan programs.

So can we expect Governor Spitzer to call her on the carpet for her enormous failure to bring anything resembling economic development to Upstate New York?

Don’t hold your breath folks.
