UK: Don't Link Islam with Terrorism
By Rizzuto

Mon Feb 04, 2008 - PC stupidity at its best, and most dangerous. Civil servants in the UK have been issued "phrase books" that teach them to use more sensitive language when discussing Islamic Terror. What better way to describe something than by completely avoiding its fundamental aspects? To deny the link between Islam and Terrorism is not only a rejection of simple observation, but a denial of what the terrorists themselves happily admit to.

This from the Telegraph:

The guide tells civil servants not to use terms such as Islamist extremism or jihadi-fundamentalist.

Instead, they should refer to violent extremism and criminal murderers or thugs to avoid any implication that there is an explicit link between Islam and terrorism.

The story continued:

In a speech on counter-terrorism last month, Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, declared violent extremism to be "anti-Islamic".

Maybe someone should tell this guy that he's being anti-Islamic.
