Huckabee Says He Wouldn't Turn Down VP Slot
By Rizzuto

Wed May 14, 2008 - On today's Wilkow Majority, we had the opportunity to interview Mike Huckabee. Wilkow wouldn't have been doing his job if he hadn't asked him about the veep slot. His answer is pretty honest; if offered, he would accept.

Check out the audio here. Here's the transcript:
WILKOW: … I gotta ask you one last tough question? The VP list is getting short, if you’re asked will you take it?

HUCKABEE: Well, I always say the vice presidency is a job that nobody ever claims to want, but nobody ever turns it down. I’m not going out there campaigning for it. My goal is to help John McCain get elected. If John McCain believes somebody else is going to be helpful to him to win the presidency - that’s who I want him to pick - and it’s got to be that way because this isn’t about me, it’s about our country and it’s about who can best make sure that a conservative wins the White House. I don’t want to have the prospects of President Hillary Clinton or President Barack Obama, not that I hate these people, I think they’re fine folks, you know, nothing personal against them, but I believe their views are dead wrong for America. I’m going to do everything I can to help John McCain get elected whoever he picks.

WILKOW: Okay, So to put it in music terms, if John McCain leaves the studio door open and asks you to come jam, you’re in?

HUCKABEE: Well, as I say, it would be impolite to invite oneself to such a session. If invited, it’s rare that a musician would turn down the opportunity to sit in.
