Obama's Bizzare Quote
By Rizzuto

Mon May 19, 2008 - Delivering a speech in front of environmentally conscience Oregon voters, Obama had this utterly bizarre statement about American consumption:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added.
Huh? Is he doing what I think he’s doing? Proposing that the government regulate the amount we eat, and the temperature of our homes? Is this the leadership that he’s speaking of? Even more off-putting is the idea that we have to seek the approval of foreign countries in issues as mundane as these.

I for one am an advocate of gas guzzling muscle cars, free return trips to the salad bar, and the maintenance of room temperature.

How big a blind spot must a presidential candidate have to consider food and energy consumption a sign of national self-absorption; while at the same time maintaining that Iran is not a threat to us because they can only hit their neighbors - many of which are our allies.
